Joana Afonso holds a PhD in Drawing and works in the areas of illustration, comics, art direction and teaching. She designed the plot of the album O Baile, which was recognized with the Best Album award at Amadora BD 2013.
She won the Golden Vignettes in the Best Art category for Bestiário da Isa. She has also been involved in projects such as Auto da Barca do Inferno, Maria Moisés, A Mais Breve História da Rússia, among others.
